Led by Edward J. Phillips, Carina Zupa and Alexandra Corsi, the Firm continues to fight on behalf of two Hudson Valley farms in challenging New York City’s local law banning the sale of foie gras in restaurants and retail stores. On September 15, 2022, the Firm obtained a preliminary injunction enjoining the City from enforcing the law. That injunction remains in effect. More recently, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets agreed with the farmer’s arguments that New York City’s sales ban violates New York State law. On December 14, 2022, the Department of Agriculture issued an Order that also directs the City to refrain from enforcing its sales ban. This story has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CBS New York news, and other news outlets.
