Firm News, Legal Alerts

New York’s legislature enacted, and Governor Cuomo signed, a bill amending Education Law §§ 2509, 2573 and 3012. This amendment provides for a three-year probationary period for principals, administrators, supervisors and other members of the supervisory staff who have been previously appointed on tenure in an authorized administrative tenure area in another New York school district, in the school district where currently employed or a BOCES, so long as the individual was not dismissed as a result of charges brought pursuant to Education Law § 3020-a or § 3020-b.  This change goes into effect for probationary administrative appointments commencing on or after June 1, 2020.
