On May 15, 2024, Stephanie L. Burns presented “Navigating New York State’s Special Education Transportation Mandates” with Dr. Greg Stowell, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services of Eastchester Union Free School District at the Lower Hudson Chapter of New York Association for Pupil Transportation (NYAPT) at the Valhalla Campus of Southern Westchester BOCES.
Ms. Burns represents public school districts as General Counsel in Westchester, Rockland, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York. She handles student disciplinary proceedings, appeals to the Commissioner of Education, impartial special education hearings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and NY Education Law and employee disciplinary proceedings under NY Education Law and Civil Service Law, as well as advises school districts regarding Freedom of Information and Open Meetings law issues, contracts and real property tax assessment.
