Keane & Beane, P.C. is excited to announce that Richard Zuckerman, Sharon Berlin, Adam Ross and Alyssa Zuckerman have joined the Firm as of January 1, 2024. All were previously with Lamb & Barnosky, LLP. With this addition, Keane & Beane, P.C. has opened a Long Island office, located in Melville, New York.
Richard K. Zuckerman, who is joining Keane & Beane, P.C. as a Principal Member, maintains a robust labor and employment law practice representing management. His public sector clients include cities, counties, fire and ferry districts, libraries, school districts, towns, villages and public utilities. Mr. Zuckerman also serves as general counsel to school districts and as an appointed hearing officer in police and firefighter disability disputes. He is a past Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Local and State Government Law Section and Labor and Employment Law Section, as well as past Chair of the New York State Association of School Attorneys. He has, among other professional distinctions, been repeatedly recognized as a Best Lawyer® in America and a Super Lawyer®. Mr. Zuckerman is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law and the State University of New York at Stony Brook (B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa).
Sharon N. Berlin, who is joining Keane & Beane, P.C. as a Principal Member, represents private and public sector management in labor and employment law matters, including day-to-day advice, employment investigations, workplace trainings, collective bargaining, and litigation. Ms. Berlin also serves as general counsel to school districts, private schools and other educational entities. She is a past Chair of the New York State Bar Association Local and State Government Law Section. She, too, has been recognized as a Best Lawyer® in America and as a Super Lawyer®, as well as other professional accolades. Ms. Berlin is an honors graduate of the George Washington University National Law Center and graduated from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations (B.S., with honors).
Adam S. Ross, who is joining Keane & Beane, P.C. as a Member, represents public employers in a broad range of employment-related matters, including collective bargaining, disciplinary proceedings, contract arbitrations and Taylor Law issues. For school districts and BOCES, he also regularly provides guidance on probationary periods, tenure, recall and performance reviews. Mr. Ross previously served as General Counsel to the United Federation of Teachers, and in this capacity negotiated and prepared collective bargaining agreements on behalf of over 200,000 UFT-represented employees in more than 20 public and private sector bargaining units. He is currently the Co-Chair of the New York State Bar Association Public Sector Labor Relations Committee. Mr. Ross is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
Alyssa L. Zuckerman, also joining Keane & Beane, P.C. as a Member, represents public and private sector employers in labor and employment matters. Her public sector clients include municipalities and school districts. She has experience in collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations, interest arbitrations, employee disciplinary proceedings, unemployment insurance hearings and matters before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board and the National Labor Relations Board. Ms. Zuckerman was recognized in the 2024 edition of Best Lawyers® as “One to Watch” in Labor and Employment Law-Management and has been recognized as a SuperLawyer® Rising Star. She currently serves as the Senior Vice President of the FDNY Firefighter John F. McNamara Foundation. Ms. Zuckerman is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law and New York University.
