Stephanie M. Roebuck will be presenting at the New York State School Boards Association (“NYSSBA”) Annual Convention in Syracuse, New York on October 28, 2022. The two day NYSSBA Convention is attended by more than 2,000 education leaders across New York State to address the needs, interests and issues of concerns for school district and board of education members. Ms. Roebuck’s presentation is entitled “Religion in the Schools” and will focus on issues such as reasonable accommodations for religious practices, exemptions for assignments due to religious views, and prayer in school, with an emphasis on the recent Supreme Court decision, Kennedy v. Bremerton School District.
Stephanie M. Roebuck represents numerous public school districts as General Counsel, Labor Counsel and Special Education Counsel in Westchester and Rockland Counties, NY. She regularly handles school litigation matters in both state and federal courts, appeals to the Commissioner of Education, impartial special education hearings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Education Law, employee disciplinary proceedings pursuant to the Education Law and Civil Service Law and discrimination and/or retaliation claims before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and State Division of Human Rights.
