Keane & Beane, P.C. successfully defended a school district in a federal court appeal of a special education matter. In C.L. and G.W. v. Scarsdale Union Free School District, 10-CV-4315 (CS), the parents sought tuition reimbursement for a private school where they unilaterally placed their son, who they claimed was disabled under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act. The Court agreed with the position of the school district that the parents’ choice of school was overly restrictive and therefore not appropriate, resulting in a denial of their request for reimbursement. Stephanie M. Roebuck represented the school district.
