Robert Zitt works with the Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution and Municipal Law Practice Groups and focuses on litigation and dispute resolution in state and federal courts where he has represented municipalities and public officials in a wide range of matters. He regularly handles commercial, municipal, and eclectic land use litigation matters in state court throughout the Hudson Valley region including, but not limited to applications for injunctive relief and/or restraining orders, the prosecution of Article 78 proceedings, and declaratory judgment actions. Mr. Zitt has litigated cases before trial and appellate courts throughout New York, also handling appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Appellate Divisions of the New York State Supreme Court.
In addition to his general litigation practice, Mr. Zitt has represented a variety of town and village boards, as well as their respective zoning and planning boards. He also serves as counsel to police departments in the Hudson Valley in all aspects of applications for Extreme Risk Protection Orders before state courts.
Mr. Zitt joined Keane & Beane, P.C. in 2023 with prior experience representing municipalities across the counties of Rockland and Orange. From 2018 to 2021, Mr. Zitt previously served as a prosecutor and Assistant District Attorney in the Special Victims Division for the Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County wherein he prosecuted a wide range of misdemeanor and felony matters.
