Guardianships

Keane & Beane advises clients on all aspects of contested and uncontested guardianships in all New York State Trial and Appellate Courts. We represent clients in all aspects of guardianship proceedings in Surrogate’s Court pursuant to Articles 17 and 17-A of the Surrogate’s Court Procedure Act as well as in guardianship proceedings brought in Supreme Court under Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. 

Our Attorneys are well-known for their contributions in guardianship practice, favorable results and positive reputations with the Courts.  They are regularly appointed to act in various roles in guardianship proceedings in New York State.

Christopher J. Aventuro has extensive experience in guardianship matters and is frequently appointed by the Court and privately retained to represent individuals and families in complex contested and uncontested matters.  Mr. Aventuro has lectured on guardianship practice and elder abuse.  

Deepankar Mukerji’s elder law practice includes guardianships and he is a well-known authority in the interplay between guardianships and asset preservation.  Mr. Mukerji is a frequent lecturer on elder law issues and serves as an instructor of a training course for court-appointed guardians that is certified by the Unified Court System and also offered to attorneys and other professionals. He has also served as Court Evaluator, Counsel to Guardian and Court-appointed Guardian in various matters.
