Schurkman, Steven A. “Elder Law Q & A: Answers to Questions About Estate and Financial Planning, Health Care Planning and Elder Abuse.” Written under a grant from New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, this guide in its tenth edition and is widely disseminated throughout New York State through the continued support of the Pace University Women's Justice Center in collaboration with the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse Prevention at The Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale, NY.
Mitzner, Melvyn. Contributing author to the text book Real Estate Titles: Third Edition. Albany: New York State Bar Association. 2007. Mr. Mitzner contributed to Chapter 1 “The Nature of Titles and Estates in New York”, which deals with future estates and limitations in real property, such as estates in possession and compares future estates in real property and reversions and remainders in estates. He also wrote Chapter 9, which deals with liens and encumbrances on real property other than mortgages and real estate taxes. This chapter includes all State of New York liens and encumbrances that lien real property and discusses restrictive covenants, easements and transfer taxes. It includes the NYC liens that the City of New York imposes. Notably, Chapter 9 was cited by former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stevens in his dissent in The Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations vs. the City of New York decided June 14, 2007.
Mitzner, Melvyn. Contributing Co-author of the book Attorney Escrow Accounts Rules, Regulations and Related Topics: Second Edition. Albany: New York State Bar Association. 2006. Specifically, Mr. Mitzner wrote the Chapter on Escrow Agreements, which deals with the creation of the escrow agreement, the elements of an escrow agreement, how an escrow agent is created, the duties and responsibilities of an escrow agent, including limitations, conflicts of interest. A comparison with a "Stakeholder,” and dual provisions as an attorney for one of the parties and as escrow agent is discussed.
