Ronald A. Longo

Professional Experience

Together with other members and associates in the firm, Ronald Longo serves as General Counsel and Labor Counsel to numerous school districts and municipalities in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Nassau Counties, NY.  Mr. Longo has acted as chief negotiator in labor contract negotiations with various unions and has represented employers in hearings defending improper practice charges before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board.  He regularly handles school litigation matters in both state and federal courts, appeals to the Commissioner of Education, employee disciplinary proceedings pursuant to the Education Law and Civil Service Law and discrimination and/or retaliation claims before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and State Division of Human Rights. Mr. Longo is an Impartial Hearing Officer certified by the Commissioner of Education to hear disputes involving students with disabilities. 

From 1985 until 2010, Mr. Longo was an Assistant Town Attorney for labor matters and negotiations for the Town of Clarkstown, NY.  Mr. Longo joined Keane & Beane in 1993 with many years of experience in representing school districts and municipalities.  Prior to practicing law, Mr. Longo was employed in municipal labor relations and as a public school personnel administrator.

Professional Activities/Publications

Mr. Longo is a frequent lecturer at seminars sponsored by the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Public Employment Relations Board and various school board associations on issues related to education law and public sector labor law.  He also taught graduate level education law courses at Iona College and Fordham University. 

Community Service

Mr. Longo is a former Member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of the Hudson Valley.  He is a former President, Board Member and Coach of the White Plains Plainsmen Youth Hockey Association.  Mr. Longo also formerly served as a coach for Little League Softball and Baseball in White Plains, NY.
