Professional Experience

Lance Klein has been practicing management-side labor and employment law for the past 20 years.  On behalf of Keane & Beane, he serves as Labor Counsel to various municipalities, as well as publicly held corporations, throughout the Hudson Valley, attending to matters including collective bargaining with unions, employee discipline, grievance hearings and arbitrations.  He has extensive experience in both state and federal courts, having successfully tried numerous cases in both venues. Mr. Klein has litigated a wide range of employment discrimination and retaliation cases, including claims brought under federal civil rights statutes, such as 42 U.S.C. § 1983, Title VII, Title IX and the Fair Labor Standards Act.  

Mr. Klein also provides counsel and training to clients in a wide array of labor and employment issues, including disability, retirement, wage and hour laws as well as regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act.  He has conducted various employment related investigations including off-site employee misconduct, sexual harassment and perjury claims.  Mr. Klein also routinely represents clients in arbitrations held pursuant to the rules of the New York State Public Employment Relations Board and the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Klein joined Keane & Beane in 1993 after serving as in-house counsel for a large real estate developer.
